About the association

The East Coast Tidal Pilotage Association has shared an interest in the tidal waters of the Thames Estuary and the East Coast since 2013.

Based at 22 The Quay, Old Harwich, Essex CO12 3HH, United Kingdom, the association is part of the East Coast Swatchway & Estuarine Cruising Trust. Our notes focus on practical passage preparation, drying ground and the distinctive opportunities of shoal-draft cruising.

Commodore Alistair Finch, RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Examiner, writes from the chart table with an emphasis on prudent margins and the value of local knowledge. These pages are for passage planning and discussion; they do not replace current navigational publications or a skipper’s judgement.
